Live in the App Stores

Cookie Policy

Effective: 13 October 2026. Previous version: 5 October 2026.

This policy explains what Hexology’s websites and apps store on your device, and why. It is part of our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more generally. The websites covered are hexology.co, about.hexology.co, blog.hexology.co and the Hexology Viewer at app.hexology.co; the apps are the Hexology apps for iOS and Android.

Our websites set no cookies

When you visit our websites you are not asked to accept cookies, because there are none to accept. Our websites do not set cookies and do not store anything in your browser. Our pages are delivered through Cloudflare, and one small script from Cloudflare runs on each page to count visits. On the Viewer’s front door and map page, your browser also loads map tiles from OpenFreeMap and, for desktop search and place names, contacts komoot’s Photon service. Apart from those, nothing is loaded from other companies’ servers. In particular:

  • The only analytics is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, stores no personal identifiers and reports aggregated page views and performance. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising, tracking or social-media tools.
  • Fonts, images and stylesheets are served from our own websites, not from Google or any other third party.
  • Our sites link to other services (for example LinkedIn, the App Store and Google Play), but nothing from those services loads on our pages unless you choose to follow a link. The newsletter sign-up form is part of our own pages; when you submit it, the email address you enter is sent to Buttondown, which runs our newsletter, and nothing is loaded from Buttondown into your browser.
  • The contact form on about.hexology.co is operated by Web3Forms, which passes your message to us by email and stores nothing in your browser. It uses a hidden “honeypot” field to catch automated spam; there is no CAPTCHA.

We use Google Search Console to see how people find our sites in Google search. It works from Google’s side and puts no code or cookies on our pages.

Cloudflare, which delivers our pages, also keeps aggregated statistics from its server logs. Neither Cloudflare Web Analytics nor those statistics use cookies or identify you.

Our apps

The Hexology apps for iOS and Android do not use cookies, but they do keep a small amount of information on your device so that they work:

  • Login and session information, so that you stay signed in between visits. Deleted when you log out.
  • A device identifier, assigned when you browse without an account, so that content you collect can be shown to you again. Not linked to your name or email; lost when you log out or uninstall the app.
  • Cached content and settings, so the app opens quickly and remembers your choices.

Two third-party services run inside the app. Google Maps draws the map and receives your device’s location to do so. Google Firebase receives crash and performance reports if the app fails or runs slowly, together with a technical identifier for your installation. Neither is used to show you advertising. You can read more about both in our Privacy Policy.

The Viewer at app.hexology.co has no sign-in and stores nothing in your browser. Its front door and map page load map tiles from OpenFreeMap, and place names come from komoot’s Photon service (search text, and the coordinates of points you choose or arrive at by a link, never your own position); neither sets cookies. If you share your location with the Around Me button, your position is used in your browser and is not stored. When signing in on the web is introduced, it will keep you signed in using a cookie or your browser’s local storage, used only for that purpose, and we will update this page and the Viewer’s “No cookies” line before launch.

Your choices

Because our websites set no cookies, there is nothing to switch off. For the apps, you can log out at any time to clear your session, control location access and crash-reporting in your device’s settings, and uninstall the app to remove everything it has stored.

Changes to this policy

If our websites or apps start to use cookies or similar technologies in a new way, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first. The current version is always at about.hexology.co/cookies/, with its effective date at the top.
